Covestro - IDC Ideacamp

Building our future generation a capability on innovation is important, the Idea Camp for the 6 finalist teams from Innovation Design Contest 2019 took a good step for them before entering to final round.

As another stage of Covestro Thailand’s Innovation Design Contest 2019 which has been officially launched since July 2019, Covestro (Thailand) organized the idea camp during 11-12 October 2019 for all 6 finalist teams. The Idea Camp, from collaboration between Covestro and National Innovation Agency (NIA), was conducted to provide fun and fruitful workshop to the 6 teams whose ideas were on the highest score among the 61 ideas submitted by the end of the campaign’s submission deadline on 30 September 2019.

During the two days of Idea Camp, the students from 6 different institutions which are King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Suranaree University of Technology, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, Thammasat University, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok and Rayong Technical College visited to Covestro’s Polycarbonate Plant at Map Ta Phut Site in Rayong on the first day to experience high standard manufacturing operation that is giving importance on driving sustainability and supporting community around. Covestro’s polycarbonates producing process and the how students can implement the materials to their learning tool idea were shared during the visit. They also got chance to meet with many teachers from school around Map Ta Phut community who came to share the insight of needs and challenges in teaching students in a fun learning way.

Furthermore, the National Innovation Agency (NIA) who is the partner of this campaign also provided interactively fun lesson to all participants with “Steam4Innovators” concept that help accelerating the idea and design to be an actual product to launch and serve the target needs of elementary school students. The workshop conducted at Golden City Rayong Hotel enabled all teams to develop more concreate idea and the understand user insights that will help improving their concept design including ability to commercialize in the market.


All participants were very impressed with the Idea Camp and showed great appreciation to Covestro that they have opportunities to join the camp.  “I really enjoyed the activities which helped me to get together as growing network of young innovators and appreciate all comments and feedback from experts to my idea. It really open up my views and help me to develop my learning tool to the way to win the prize!” said by a student from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.

The 6 finalist-teams will have a chance to present their design concept and creativity of innovative learning tools to the distinguished committees on Friday 15 November 2019 at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC).  Let’s stay tune of which team will become the 1st winner of idea for innovation which will be announced on the same day of pitching day in November.
